AT TARIIZ: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam recognizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies can support certain aspects of academic writing and research. This policy establishes the principles governing their ethical, transparent, and responsible use in manuscripts submitted to the journal.
The policy aims to uphold academic integrity, ensure author accountability, and maintain the accuracy, originality, and reliability of scholarly publications in Islamic economics, finance, business, and management.
AI tools and AI-assisted technologies, including generative AI systems and large language models, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of submitted manuscripts. These tools cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or ethical soundness of scholarly work.
Authors remain fully responsible and accountable for all content in their manuscripts, including material generated, edited, or enhanced using AI tools. Authors must verify the accuracy of factual statements, citations, references, data, tables, figures, and other AI-assisted outputs before submission.
AI-assisted content must be critically reviewed and verified by the authors. AI tools must not replace the authors' scholarly judgment, expertise, or responsibility for the research and its conclusions.
Authors are required to disclose the use of AI tools or AI-assisted technologies in preparing their manuscripts. The disclosure must clearly identify the tools used, their purposes, and the extent of their involvement.
The disclosure should include:
AI tool used: The name of the tool and its version, where applicable.
Purpose of use: The specific task performed, such as language editing, grammar correction, literature summarization, coding assistance, data analysis, or image generation.
Extent of involvement: A brief explanation of how the tool contributed to the manuscript or research process.
The disclosure should be included in the Acknowledgements section for general writing assistance, the Methods section for methodological applications, or a separate Declaration of AI Use statement before the References section, as appropriate.
For writing and language assistance:
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] for [specific purpose]. The authors reviewed, revised, and verified the AI-assisted content and take full responsibility for the final manuscript."
For AI-assisted image generation:
"Figure [number] was created with the assistance of [name and version of AI tool]. The authors reviewed and edited the generated material to ensure its accuracy, relevance, and compliance with applicable ethical and publication requirements."
AI tools may be used to support the following activities, provided that their use is disclosed as required and all outputs are carefully verified by the authors.
Language and Grammar Editing: Improving spelling, grammar, readability, and sentence structure without changing the intended scholarly meaning.
Writing and Organizational Assistance: Supporting manuscript outlining, improving clarity, and preparing preliminary drafts that are subsequently reviewed and revised by the authors.
Brainstorming and Idea Development: Assisting with the organization of research ideas and manuscript structure.
Literature Summarization: Supporting preliminary summaries of published literature, provided that authors consult the original sources, verify the information, and cite the relevant publications accurately.
Data Analysis and Visualization: Assisting with coding, data processing, statistical analysis, or the preparation of tables and figures, provided that the methods and outputs are independently verified and reproducible. Relevant use must be explained in the Methods section.
The use of AI does not transfer responsibility for the research, its interpretation, or its conclusions from the authors to the technology.
The following uses of AI are prohibited:
Data Fabrication and Falsification: Generating, altering, or presenting false data, fabricated findings, fictitious references, or misleading research results.
Plagiarism and Improper Attribution: Presenting material taken from existing sources as original work without appropriate attribution, or using AI to conceal the origin of ideas, text, images, or other intellectual contributions.
Misrepresentation of Scholarly Contributions: Using AI-generated material to misrepresent the originality, methods, findings, or conclusions of a study.
Unverified Research Claims: Including AI-generated citations, references, data, or factual claims without checking their accuracy and validity.
Breach of Confidentiality: Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, unpublished research, or other protected materials to AI tools in ways that compromise confidentiality, copyright, or the integrity of the peer-review process.
Replacement of Author Accountability: Delegating scholarly decisions to AI without meaningful human evaluation, verification, and responsibility.
Authors must ensure that all research hypotheses, methodological choices, interpretations, and conclusions are scientifically justified and remain their own accountable scholarly contributions.
The editorial team of AT TARIIZ: Jurnal Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam is responsible for applying this policy fairly and consistently throughout the publication process.
Editors and reviewers must protect manuscript confidentiality, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and exercise independent professional judgment when evaluating submissions. The use of AI detection tools, where applicable, must not be treated as conclusive evidence of misconduct without further assessment.
Suspected violations will be evaluated in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures and relevant scholarly publishing standards.
Failure to comply with this policy may constitute a breach of publication ethics. Depending on the severity of the violation and the stage of publication, the journal may take appropriate action, including:
Requesting clarification, correction, or revision.
Rejecting the submitted manuscript.
Publishing a correction or retracting an article when a serious violation is established.
Restricting future submissions in accordance with the journal's editorial procedures.
Notifying the authors' affiliated institutions or relevant research ethics bodies when warranted.
All cases will be assessed individually, taking into account the nature of the violation, the available evidence, and applicable publication ethics standards.
